For over eighteen years now, we have been cultivating Insect Eating Plants. At the time of writing, the collection comprises of some ten thousand plants of many genera and forms.

In 1996, for the first time, Carnivorous Plant Nurseries became a commercial venture, supplying some of the major chains of Garden Centres throughout New Zealand with these curious plants. We also arranged some international seed orders and a cut flower and pitcher service in the Christchurch area.

So successful was this first year, that in 1997, we produced our first catalogue. Our competitive prices meant that again we were popular with retail outlets nationwide. During this year the aim of Carnivorous Plant Nurseries is to promote New Zealand sales of these endangered plants; to make New Zealand a source of a wider variety of carnivorous flora. 2005 saw the launch of a new range of Sarracenia and in the 2007 / 08 year we will be expanding to cover a wide range of shows around the south island.

We are keen to keep up relationships with our New Zealand customers both private and commercial and to continue to supply their needs. To this end, on this website we include for your interest and information our catalogue.

Please note, that orders look their best in the months of October, November and December. If you want your order to be processed immediately, please indicate this on the contact form.
